Voiceover

Where Video editor › Voiceover, or Home › Open a tool: VoiceoverCost 20 credits a minute of speech

Voiceover records the words you write in a voice you choose, saves the recording to your media, and places it on a track of its own. Music under the edit is lowered so the voice sits clearly on top.

To record your own voice with a microphone instead, see Record your voice.

In AI mode, ask: “Add a voiceover that says…”, or “Read the captions aloud in a calm voice.”

In manual mode:

  1. Press Voiceover in the tool row.

  2. Write the words in What it says, exactly as they should be spoken. Up to 1,200 characters, about a minute and a half of speech.

  3. Choose a Voice.

  4. Choose Where it starts: At the playhead or At the start of the edit.

  5. Check the price line, then press Generate.

When it’s done, the panel says where it went and how long it is, for example Added at 0:00 on a layer of its own: Sarah, 14.2 s. Undo takes it out again, along with the music change.

All 20 voices speak English. The default is Sarah.

Group Voices
Lifelike Sarah (warm, clear, reassuring), Brian (deep, resonant), George (a warm British storyteller), Alice (clear, engaging, British)
Natural read Hannah, Cole, Sienna, Cliff, Heather, Miles, and the British Colin and Gemma
More voices Athena, Hera, Thalia, Cora, Apollo, Arcas, Hermes, and the British Draco

If a Lifelike voice isn’t available, the closest Natural read voice of the same kind reads instead, and the panel tells you which.

A voiceover costs 20 credits for every minute of speech started, counted at 150 words a minute. Up to about 150 words is 20 credits. Recording the same words in the same voice again is free, and a recording that fails isn’t charged.

A voiceover recorded by the editor’s AI is part of that request’s price. A film’s first narration is included in an AI Product Director film or AI Short.

  • Up to 1,200 characters per recording. For longer scripts, record in parts.
  • One recording at a time.
